C.E.S. Smart Distribution Panel (CSDP)
C.E.S. brings intelligence to the electricity panel in what can only be described as transforming the existing electricity panel into a central "Electricity Gateway". Installed on the premises as a regular electricity panel, the CSDP provides a central, integrated, automated energy management solution. In a way, the CSDP extends the “Smart Grid”, resulting in improved performance and energy usage efficiency.
At the core of the CSDP: An array of unique, patented and reliable power line arc-less switches, enabling dynamic routing of power without adversely affecting consumers or appliances.
These C.E.S.-developed hybrid (mechanical/solid-state) smart switches can connect and disconnect automatically upon current overload, short current surge detection or software command. Manual on/off switch operation is also provided. These smart switches are low-cost, high current and are remotely controlled.
The CSDP allows for detailed real time monitoring and control – automatically and seamlessly and without requiring end-user ongoing involvement in its operation or setting.
The CSDP is installed as a standard electricity panel, requiring no change in wiring or pre-planning, thus saving time and money.
CSDP Main Features:
- Detailed information on the consumption of each circuit (i.e. the appliances connected to it). The detailed consumption data (what is consumed by which appliance) allow the end-user to plan and save.
- Real-time information on alternative energy generation. If an alternative energy source is installed (for example: solar panels), the CSDP will provide data on the kWh generated.
- Rate based consumption planning and saving. When variable rates are available from the energy solution provider, the CSDP receives this information, allowing consumers to set up specific appliance usage according to the best available rates.
- As easily installed as a standard electricity panel. The CSDP does not require special pre-planning (in new buildings) or changes to wiring or infrastructure (in existing building retrofits).
- Easy operation. Once installed, the CSDP's robust architecture enables very simple setup and operation through an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
- Increased safety. The CSDP detects loose connections (sparks), as well as high temperatures. The CSDP generates alerts in extreme situations.
- Appliance protection. The CSDP measures/detects changes in voltage and current and disconnects appliance/s to prevent damage.
- Non-intrusive Demand Side Management (DSM) and Demand Response (DR). With CSDP the end-user defines appliance priorities so that only low priority appliances will be affected upon DR activation.
- Smart House features. The CSDP includes timers and circuit grouping options, enabling remote communication and operation.
- Alternative energy integration. Through the CSDP, the alternative power becomes an integral part of the premises energy supply, without requiring additional wiring or switching devices.
- Better, more efficient usage. The CSDP provides real-time status information from residential or commercial buildings. Such information may include abnormal consumption, unstable power or frequency, power outage, and more.
- Local (on premises) communication with smart appliances and devices. The CSDP communicates with smart appliances and devices (for example: smart thermostat), via PLC or ZigBee.

Alternative Energy.
Through the CSDP, the alternative energy source (solar panels, wind turbine, generator, UPS, batteries) becomes an integral part of the premises electrical supply and is used as long as it is available. The CSDP eliminates the need to wire specific appliance/s to the alternative energy source.
In cases where the alternative source is connected to the grid, the CSDP will provide information regarding the kWh generated and, where available, the cumulative money value of the energy sold to the grid.
The CSDP meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards 60439-1 and 60439-3.
The CSDP provides end-users with tangible benefits while facilitating efficient energy consumption and increased savings.
